Jablite are pleased to be working in partnership with a leading flat roof waterproofing systems manufacturer, on the refurbishment of an education facility based in Kent.
The education facility was constructed some 30 years ago and consists of a series of modular buildings stitched together with a flat metal deck. The profile of the flat metal deck is quite detailed and had started to fail and leak where the modular buildings had been joined together.
Jablite supplied 1600m2 of profile roof insulation to form part of a profile roof system that was installed on top of the existing metal deck. The insulation boards are designed to fit tightly into the profile of the roof and to eliminate air gaps between the insulation and the roof system that cause condensation.
Jablite National Roofing Manager, Scott Hodgetts comments, “Profile roof insulation is a great way to prolong the life of an existing roof and cuts the costs of having to replace the whole roof but also improves the aesthetics”.
|Specification||1600m2 of EPS to form part of a profile roof system that was installed on top of the existing metal deck.|
|Site||Educational facility in North Kent.|
|Product||Jablite 65mm 150E grade EPS boards were fitted and secured using tube fasteners to the existing roofing. A thermal foil was then laid on top of the EPS insulation to create a waterproof membrane|
Jablite attended site to survey the metal deck to ensure that the EPS is cut to fit perfectly, a sample was then provided to site to ensure accuracy. The Jablite 65mm 150E grade EPS boards were fitted and secured using tube fasteners to the existing roofing. This was then made weather tight with the installation of a Single Ply Membrane specified by the manufacturer to complete the Profile overlay.
The Area Technical Manager on site commented, “I like Jablite EPS for our profile roof system as the service they supply from surveying the roof, providing the cut sample through to delivery of the pre-cut EPS is always spot on. There is no fuss and it’s great to be working with such a professional team at Jablite who know their stuff”.
The whole project took just 4 weeks to turnaround during school holidays with no room for delay, as pupils would be returning, it was imperative the project ran smoothly. Luckily for this project the British summer turned out to be a hot one, preventing delays from bad weather and preventing further leaks into the facility.
