The Netherlands-based Synbra Group announced the promotion of Richard Lee, from Sales & Marketing Director to Managing Director of the
Group’s two British companies, Jablite Ltd and Styropack Ltd.
Richard has worked for the business for 25 years, starting aged 17, on the shop floor and working his way up through the ranks of Styropack, gaining qualifications and experience on the way, culminating in an MBA in 2010.
This internal promotion follows a gap of nearly two years without an MD during which Richard, with the other two Board members Jason Griffiths and Ken Hutchins, aided by non-executive Director John Colley have successfully changed the direction of both companies.
We have come through a challenging time,” says Richard. “However, our new direction of innovation, exploring new markets, developing
new products and most of all forging our own unique path has proved successful.
We still have much progress to make if we are to build both these businesses into contenders in their own sectors. Both face their own unique challenges. Jablite is competing against worldwide groups, like Kingspan, Rockwool and Knauf that have massive clout and seemingly unlimited marketing budgets.
Styropack is up against other factors, such as finding ways to recycle our packaging, differentiating our products by quality and service
and coping with the recession.
Both companies have made incredible progress, against all the odds and, I am extremely proud to have been put in charge of their future
destiny. I am currently reviewing all those plans and ideas that I have jotted down over the years and assessing which of them has legs!
So watch this space, I intend to make changes and to turn both companies into the manufacturing success stories I know they both have the potential to be!”
